Hardwood Bark Mulch

Components: Hardwood bark from species such as Oak, Hickory, Ash, Maple, and Beech

pH Range: 6.0-7.0

Recommended Use: Use this mulch around plants of any type. It has excellent water retaining qualities and protects plants from temperature extremes. Hardwood mulch is also good for erosion control on sloped planting sites. In addition, it can be used for weed control in areas where mowing is difficult.

Availability: Bags: 2 cubic ft. Approximately 45 lbs./bag. Bulk: Up to 75 cubic yards

Black Hardwood Mulch
Components: Black Hardwood Mulch is Hardwood Mulch dyed to a dark rich color.

Recommended Use: Black Hardwood Mulch may be used in the same way as Hardwood Mulch. Personal preference is the only difference.

Availability: 1.5 cubic feet; Bulk- approximately 65 cubic yards

Are the Colorfast colorants Enviromentally safe?
Only enviromentally safe colorants are used. Colorants are made from naturally occurring pigments. They are specially formulated to be nontoxic to children, animals, and plants.

What effects does colored mulch have on plants?
Using colored mulch actually aids in your plants growth and health. It helps prevent weed growth and aids the soil in retaining moisture.

How much colored mulch should be used?
Generally, a 2-4 inch layer of mulch is recommended for the first time. Each year the mulch bed should be raked and topped with about 2 inches of new mulch.
